Steps to do before capturing Windows 7 64 bit image

I need a solution

Hi, we currently have a Windows 7 32 bit image, the time has come for us to create a 64 bit image.
I've "re-captured" an image and deployed that before, but never setup a PC to capture.

What do I need to do exactly? I've read a few pages, eg https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/deployment-solution-7x-imaging-windows-7 and http://www.symantec.com/connect/articles/deployment-solution-beginning-part-1 but they don't mention how to prepare the base image to capture, just assume you alredy have it ready.

Here's what I'm planning and confused about.
Create new VM, attach Windows 7 SP1 64 bit ISO from datastore
Start VM and go through Windows setup, does the account or name I enter matter? Can that be removed later? Do I need to activate Windows now?
I'll need to log on and join our domain to install the SMA, do I want to insall all the plug-ins now? eg pcAnywhere, Softare Management, Inventory, Arellia agents. I know I need Deployment Solution, do I manually install that? Or just wait until the SMA installs it?
(one page I read said not to join the base image to the domain, then how would I get the SMA on there and get it showing in SMC to run the capture job?)
One problem we have is about 8 Polices with Windows Workstations as the target, I don't want these to install on my base VM, is turning them off the only way to achieve this?
Once I have my base image the way I want it (Windows up to date etc), I then run the capture image job which I can then deploy.

There is also no mention of drives on these pages, we are currently using a vbs script that runs after the deploy image task, it finds the PC model and copies the matching folder from NS to the PC, then our unattend.xml file references this path (c:\drivers) in the offlineServicing and auditSystem passes.

The other step that is missing is creating the unattend.xml, I assume this is just the same as if creating for Windows Deployment Services, using WSIM?

Thanks for any assistance. (I was suprised how useless the Deployment Solution 7.1 3 hour online Symantec Training was, it didn't cover this at all.
