We have Altiris 7.1 and we are trying to do a scripted OS installation. We have several tasks in our job and all of the tasks do work correctly when we test them by themselves. What happens is that we tell our jobs to continue, even if a task fails. When we try to build a system 19 out of 20 of our tasks work, but we always have 1 that fails. If we rerun the task that failed, after the build job completes, then it always installs successfully. If we change the order of our tasks, then we start having other random tasks that fail. We called Symantec support and they told us we are trying to do too much. I told them that trying to install adobe reader, adobe flash, net framework, etc into a scripted OS installation is almost required and I do not think that "you are trying to do too much" is a answer.
Is anyone using scripted OS installations instead of imaging for deployment? If so, please let me know how many tasks you have in your build job and if you have any ideas as to why ours could be failing on a different software tasks every time.
